Librarian

Kim Hartquist of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra is Cathie’s Pops librarian. And Cathie feels very lucky to work with her – she is a world class librarian!

Kim Hartquist Kim Hartquist has just completed her tenth year as Music Librarian for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also the Librarian for RSO Principal Pops conductor, Jeff Tyzik. Born and raised in Rochester, she considers herself extremely fortunate to be librarian for her “home-town” orchestra. Kim’s librarian experience started in the 7th grade, thanks to a teacher who saw an organized student, and continued throughout grade school and into college. With a Bachelors Degree in Music Education/Trombone from SUNY Fredonia, Kim went on to teach briefly before finding her true calling as Music Librarian for the RPO.

Adventures along the way also include working at various music stores selling everything from instruments to print music, and years of experience as a professional music copyist. Kim is also an active member of the Major Orchestra Librarians’ Association (MOLA). In her spare time, you can find her kayaking or hiking while searching for interesting birds.
